If you are wondering whether completing your AffirmReady checklist means your company is guaranteed to be compliant, pass a review, or win government work, this article explains what AffirmReady can and cannot promise.

The short answer

No. AffirmReady cannot guarantee that your company is compliant, that it will pass any assessment or review, or that it will win or keep any contract. AffirmReady is a tool that helps you prepare. The results depend on the actual safeguards your company puts in place and the accuracy of the information you provide.

Why no tool can make that guarantee

  • Compliance depends on what you actually do. A completed checklist reflects your answers. Compliance depends on whether the safeguards are truly in place and working across your company.
  • AffirmReady does not see your systems. AffirmReady does not connect to or inspect your environment, so it cannot independently verify your answers.
  • Contract decisions are made by others. Whether you win or keep a contract depends on the government agency or prime contractor, the specific contract requirements, and many factors beyond cybersecurity.
  • Requirements can change. Government rules and contract requirements can be updated over time.

What a completed checklist does mean

A completed AffirmReady checklist means your company has worked through each of the 15 CMMC Level 1 requirements, recorded how it meets them, and noted where the supporting evidence lives. That puts your company in a much stronger, more organized position when the senior official is deciding whether to affirm.

Why accuracy matters

The annual affirmation in SPRS is a formal statement to the government. Affirming compliance when requirements are not actually met can create serious legal and contractual risk for your company. Answer honestly in AffirmReady, mark items as not met when they are not met, and resolve gaps before affirming.

Getting the most out of AffirmReady

  • Answer based on how things work today, not how you plan to do them.
  • Involve the people who actually manage your systems, such as your IT provider.
  • Confirm evidence exists and is current, rather than assuming it does.
  • Review your checklist before each annual affirmation.
